I have to assume that a bunch of TWR players have played (or still play) M:TG. I'm curious what formats you play. Do you play casually, or are you a seasoned tournament competitor?

I started around 1998, when my summer roommate (who was quite a good player) taught me. I remember taking his red Sligh deck to a local tourney and being too afraid to use the sideboard at all.

That hooked me, and I think my first real deck was a white weenie with Empyrial Armor, shadow attackers, and Cataclysm as the core. It had a bunch of protection from red and black and En-Kor guys to redirect damage.

I played for many years after that. I played in a lot of local tourneys and PTQs at the time, but over the years of my play, I transitioned to more casual play.

I haven't seriously bought cards for 10 years or so, but I keep toying of getting back in.

What's your M:TG story?

I'm curious who here plays (or has played) the Pokémon Trading Card Game. I played it when it first came out. I was pretty heavy into it for the first few sets. Those were some great memories, as it was like the wild west at local tournaments and such.

I also played through the GameBoy game at the time.

I quit playing it for MANY years, and I got back into it when SP was starting to get ultra popular. It took a while to adjust, but I ended up teaming up with some strong players and getting back into "shape" fairly nicely.

My peak achievement with the game was winning Minnesota states with a Gyarados deck by beating one of the undisputed best players in the world. That will always be a proud moment.

I'm wondering what your involvement with Pokémon is/was. Did you just collect cards? Did you play casually with friends? Did you compete at Worlds?
